Samuel Hearne MS Community,
On behalf of the Staff of Samuel Hearne Middle School, we would like to welcome you back from what we hope was a restful and enjoyable summer break spent with family and friends.
As a reminder, the 2019 – 2020 academic year begins on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. Samuel Hearne MS students are asked to assemble on the paved area at the rear of the school where class signs will be posted for students to line-up at, based on class lists school staff will have on hand. These class signs will be posted on the walls closest to either our Grade 5/6 entry/exit doors and our Grade 7/8 entry/exit doors.
Please note that school begins at 8:40 AM, at which time school staff will guide students into the building to begin their day. If faced with inclement weather, we will assemble in the gym rather than on the paved area at the rear of the school.
During the first week of school, please expect to receive a package of various student forms and information letters, as well as an email from the TDSB to complete a variety of forms online.
Further, we have very exciting news to share! Along with Oakridge Junior Public School, Samuel Hearne MS has been selected to be profiled as a site for back to school traffic safety on the first day of school. We expect the media to be present. Dignitaries include, TDSB Director of Education John Malloy, TDSB Chair of the Board Robin Pilkey and Mayor John Tory. Our Trustee Parthi Kandavel unfortunately is unable to attend, but fully supports our traffic safety program. Toronto Police Service will be on site, with traffic/speed enforcement in place. Dignitaries will be speaking to media outside of Oakridge Junior Public School before the school day begins.
Please feel free to contact Samuel Hearne Middle School regarding any questions at (416) 396 6555. Also, please feel free to visit www.SamuelHearneMS.ca and follow us on Twitter (@SamuelHearneMS) for further information.
