Continuation of Learning – Monday, April 6, 2020

Good Evening Samuel Hearne MS Community,

We hope that members of our School Community continue to be safe and are well during this unprecedented time.

As shared in our school communication earlier this week, this past week was one full of re-connection and communication as Teachers continued to reach out and check-in with Students and Families. Further, our Staff spent time meeting virtually this week, where Teachers continued to plan as we look ahead to re-establish Teacher-led learning beginning Monday, April 6, 2020.

As we all approach Monday with eagerness and excitement, many in our School Community may have questions about what teaching and learning will look like online, what expectations there will be of Students and how we are planning for Student learning moving forward. Please see the communications and information shared by Teachers via email, in Google Classroom posts or via Class Dojo which have outlined class and grade specific information surrounding many of these questions. Please feel free to reach out directly to your child’s Teacher using the communication/learning platform in place (Google Classroom and/or Class Dojo), as well as via email. As always, Parents/Guardians are reminded that should you have any questions or concerns, to please email me directly at Also, please see the most recent letter from the TDSB Director of Education (Dr. John Malloy) for further details regarding TDSB Remote Learning, including a “Frequently Asked Questions” section.

Looking ahead to online learning beginning on Monday, April 6, 2020, many Families have inquired about accessing a device (such as a laptop, iPad, Chromebook) and access to the Internet. Earlier this week, parents would have received an email from the TDSB with a request for information regarding your access to a device and the Internet. If you may have missed that email, Parents/Guardians can still complete the online submission form by clicking the link below:
Device & Internet Availability Form

We look forward to our continued learning beginning on Monday, April 6, 2020! Moving forward, we will continue to communicate any updates and pertinent information as it is shared to keep our School Community informed in a timely manner.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Principal Joe Romano directly via email at

Thank You!

Take Care,

Mr. J. Romano, Principal & Ms. N. Blackwood-Fuller, Vice Principal
