School Community Check-In & Update

Good Evening Samuel Hearne MS Community,

On behalf of the Staff of Samuel Hearne Middle School, we sincerely hope that our Students and Families are continuing to be safe and are well.

As we look ahead to week 5 of our Remote Learning, as a School Community we are proud to continue to share our successes as we engage in learning online.

Please see the sections below for our latest School Community Check-In and Update:

Mental Health & Well-Being – Virtual Children’s Mental Health Week:
It is important that we continue to consider and prioritize the Mental Health and Well-Being of our entire School Community, inclusive of our Students, Families and Staff. At Samuel Hearne MS and at the TDSB, we care about the range of emotions and questions Students of all ages may be experiencing in this uncertain and unprecedented time of the COVID-19 pandemic and school closures. That is why during the week of Monday, May 4, 2020 – Friday, May 8 2020 we will be recognizing “Virtual Children’s Mental Health Week” by providing our Students with a variety of activities and resources focusing on mindfulness, physical activity & health and opportunities for relaxation and fun. Please be sure to check our Google Classroom spaces for these activities and resources.

Further, we remind our School Community of the Mental Health & Well-Being resources provided by the TDSB, as well as of the support offered by Kids Help Phone, both available at the following links:

Remote Learning Update – Message From The Director of Education:
Please see this letter sent on Friday, May 1, 2020 from the TDSB Director of Education (Dr. John Malloy) for an update and information regarding TDSB Remote Learning.

Learning Sessions For Parents/Guardians & Families:
Starting the week of Monday, May 4, 2020, TDSB will be hosting family learning sessions for Google Classroom and Brightspace. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the technology being used to support TDSB Remote Learning and how you can support your children with this at home.
