On Friday, March 29, 2019 our Grade 8A, 8B and 8D classes did a fantastic job organizing and hosting our March 2019 Character Education Assembly, focused on Honesty.
During our whole school gathering, we celebrated the Academic, Arts-based, Athletic and Eco-focused achievements of Samuel Hearne MS Students.
Many thanks to our Staff who worked with our Grade 8 Student Leaders in organizing the assembly – a job well done!

We have had a rich and full first few months here at Samuel Hearne. Our students, staff and community have all contributed to the great success of our school year thus far.
Here are a few highlights:
Congratulations to the Senior Boys Volleyball Team who had a fantastic season coached by Mr. Bojic and Ms. Wicks. They came second in the East Conference Finals and brought home a banner to hang in the school cafeteria! Good job boys!
Legendary glass-blower Dale Chihuly known for his large-scale glass sculptures was the inspiration for this installation-style art piece.
To achieve this goal Grade 6A learned colour theory, pattern and design. Each sculpture was made using the paper mache technique.
Random Acts of Kindness by our WE group as they posted “Thank You Notes ” on students lockers, desks and staff doors.
Our Grade 6 students and staff are off to the Scarborough Outdoor Education School (S.O.E.S.), Kearney this week to experience the great outdoors three hours north of the city near Algonquin Park.
We wish them a safe, fun-filled learning experience!
